Anushka Sharma recently wrote in-depth about the so-called privilege of having a male child in society and how that privilege has been wrongly perceived.
There has been widespread outrage from Bollywood over the Hathras and Balrampur rape cases. Actors have come out demanding the victims’ justice. Now, Anushka Sharma has spoken in an upfront, honest post on Instagram about the so-called ‘privilege of having a male boy’ and how it has been viewed with a myopic vision.
“Anushka Sharma wrote, “Having a male child is seen as a ‘privilege’ in our society. Of course, it is no more privilege than having a girl child, but the fact is that this so-called privilege has been perceived wrongly and with an extremely myopic view. The only ‘privilege’ is that you have the opportunity to raise a boy in a way that he respects a girl. As a parent to society, that’s your responsibility. So, don’t think of it as a PRIVILEGE.”

Anushka Sharma touches on points that every parent with a son must think hard about. It’s not a question of privilege, but about how we raise our children.
Swara Bhasker, too, recently spoke of the need to fight the ‘rape epidemic’ that India is facing today. She said, “It’s time to start fighting the rape epidemic… and we’re standing against it here today and we have to win.” Swara also joined civil society activists, students, women, and members of various political outfits who gathered at Jantar Mantar on Friday to demand justice for the Hathras victim.
Earlier, Anushka Sharma had also posted on Instagram her views on the Hathras gangrape. She wrote, “No time has passed and we’re hearing about another brutal rape!??”
The actress and her husband, Virat Kohli, are expecting their first child. “In August, she announced the news in a social media post and wrote,” And then, we were three! Arriving Jan 2021.
The actress also recently reacted after her name was dragged into a discussion during the Indian Premier League about the performance of her husband, cricketer Virat Kohli. She slammed veteran cricketer and commentator Sunil Gavaskar on social media for dragging her into his commentary without any reason.
She said, “I’d love to explain why you thought of making such a sweeping statement on a wife accusing her of her husband’s game?” I’m sure over the years you’ve respected every cricketer’s private life while commenting on the game. Don’t you think you should have the same amount of respect for me and us?
